BEEC NABERS
BEEC NABERS Rating
The main component of a BEEC certificate is provision of a valid NABERS Energy for offices rating for base or whole building. During the transition period this would be the only component of the BEEC that is required by the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency (DCCEE). If a building has a NABERS rating before the start of the transition period it is automatically considered registered with the national registry.
The BEEC transition period is from 1st November 2010 to 1st November 2011 after which the other two components of the BEEC must be accompanied with the NABERS rating in order for it to be valid and to be used in advertisement practices. No green power is allowed to be considered in calculation of the NABERS rating and both the star rating and GHG emissions of the building must be reflected on each advertising material provided to customers of the building.
